Criteria
- Entry must be a teacher-reviewed project. The signature of the sponsoring teacher and parent (if entrant is under the age of 18) is required for your entry to be accepted
- Student Created Videos: It is accepted that primary grade teachers will be very involved in video production and editing, however it is expected that students participate in all parts of the process. At the intermediate and secondary levels it is expected that students create the video with teacher guidance and approval only.
- Submission may not have been entered previously to the iVIE Festival. The iVIE Awards are limited to amateur video endeavors of students and teachers. Videos commissioned for profit may not be entered.
- Entry must address at least one California State Content Standard or learning objective. The content standards are available online at: http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/index.asp
- Entries must meet all copyright standards by obtaining releases for all copyrighted materials prior to submission.
- Entries are limited in length to 7 minutes.
- Entries will be uploaded online. Instructions and specific formats will be provided.
Categories
Each year, iVIE categories are re-evaluated and modified according to need and feedback from iVIE participants. Categories may be added, but for each new category added, additional awards and prizes must also be provided by our sponsors. For the current category list, see the iVIE Category webpage.
Copyright Permission
Be sure that both original and copyrighted music, written work, and /or media (TV broadcasts, movies, or any footage that you did not shoot) sources are credited on the entry form. Any copyrighted resources MUST be accompanied by proof of permission from the original author, artist, television network, or movie studio, granting rights to use their content in the iVIE contest and for promotion of the contest, including posting on the iVIE web site. ENTRIES WITHOUT PROOF OF PERMISSION WILL NOT BE JUDGED. More information about media copyright, obtaining permission, creating original music, and royalty-free resources.
Awards
- All contributors will receive a certificate of participation.
- All nominated films will be screened at the iVIE Film Festival on Saturday, May 15, 2010
- Trophies will be awarded to the top nominee in each category at the iVIE Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
- Schools of first place award recipients in all categories, will receive digital video equipment (TBA) and/or video-related software. Prizes for other categories will vary according to the participation of sponsors.
- Three Grand Recognition Awards will be presented to grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. The winning student or team will receive a one trophy and other prizes. Additional trophies will be available for purchase. The winning schools will receive a digital video-editing bundle (Digital video equipment, video editing software and/or other peripherals).
Awards are subject to SDCOE securing appropriate sponsorship

iVIE Events
The iVIE Film Festival will be held at the UltraStar Theatres in Del Mar Highlands, Saturday, May 15, 2010, 9 AM - 5 PM
The iVIE Awards Ceremony will be held May 25, 2010, Red Carpet Event at 5 PM, Ceremony at 6 PM, at the San Diego Civic Theatre, 1100 Third Avenue @ B Street, San Diego , Ca 92101
